The Minneapolis Club is “thrilled and honored “ to host a Solo Exhibition of local artist Mary Pettis' works during the month of November.
“When I paint I truly feel, in the present moment, the great relations among all things”, says Pettis. “Every subject becomes a metaphor for something deeper and more intangible. I hope that those who view my work, whether briefly or for decades, will feel these sentiments. My inspiration is the hope I hold that my work will help spread peace, contemplation, tranquility, and joy.”
The Minneapolis Club urges people to ”Stop by to see these incredible works in person, or join us in the Edward Curtis Gallery from 4-7 pm on November 17 for a reception and hear from Pettis herself about her newest paintings and plein air sketches.”

In her work, Mary Pettis draws heavily upon her classical training and Russian influence. Having grown up on a Minnesota farm, her art has now taken her to the far corners of the world. She has exhibited widely, including the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, and her collectors reach across the globe.
“The more years I paint, the more I realize that nearly everything I see in the world is taking on a patina of extraordinary beauty. Long gone are the days when I just try to paint what I see...the "retinal image" or the photographic imitation. I am inspired to paint what lies beyond the surface appearance.”
Designated in 2017 as an ARC Living Master™ by the Art Renewal Center, Mary is also a Signature Member of the American Impressionist Society and the American Society of Marine Artists.
In September 2017, Mary travelled to Barcelona, Spain to receive multiple awards in Art Renewal Center’s 12th Annual International ARC Salon. Her 3rd place winner, “Minnehaha Falls in Winter”, will be exhibited with other award winners in the live exhibition at the European Museum of Modern Art (MEAM) through the end of November.
