I have painted several sunrises from this pristine Kauai cliff. This studio piece, created from those sketches and my memory, allowed me to further explore the soulful music that washes over me when I witness such scenes.
Linking land with sea, the eternal rhythm of the waves against the shoreline is both calming and transformative. The uplifting, expansive sky directs us towards that which is greater than ourselves is echoed in

Here, in this painting, we move slowly within the long, large shapes, echoing the solemnity and peace of the winter’s slumber.
